Now that HM is out, what can you expect next?

allow me to illustrate to you what my plans are for da future

CGXX was my first step into breakcore, a chance for me to see what its like to make, and experiment with some stuff here and there. HM was essentially an expansion of this, extending further into the that sphere, into the realm of the NOT Ambient kind. you know what i mean.

now, as you might know, i do 2 genres mainly. bitpop and breakcore. and ive just spent 2 albums exploring the breakcore side, so i was thinking that its time for me to tend to the other side for a bit.

i have been planning a bitpop album for ages now, and i think atm i have about 2 lined up waiting to be put into production.

    so that might happen.

also, MASHCORE. now, im a big fan of Spongebob Squarewave, as well as most of the other artists lying around here and there under the Off Me Nut label. they employ a lot of styles but one struck my interest more than the others. and it wasnt until 10 minutes ago that i discovered it has a name. MASHCOOOOOOOOOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

also i dont know if youve heard the album "dancefloor degrader" by that one random guy but i think that fits the genre to some extent. its something i wanna try myself.

of course, due to the nature of the production, if i made a mashcore album it wont be on newgrounds

BUT i just wanna see what happens if i held nothing back and went full-blast into the world of mashcore, in which i can incorporate elements of bitpop and breakcore and god knows what else.

also i wanna try using a ton of the songs in my CD album collection. that would be fun. mashing up linkin park with porter robinson and coldplay. spiffy.

    so yea. bitpop 70% chance

    mashcore 25% chance

    more actual breakcore 5% chance

    and thats the forecast m8

Just in case you missed it, I made this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ47JHop02c

    Some thoughts:

UNFINISHED MESCALINK IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL.

Sure, its super unpolished and the mixing is off sometimes, but its so RAW AND POWERFUL

Like it sounds so much more energized. idk how else to describe it.

    REESESTEP IS FRICKING BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was interested to find out about "cardboard_king". apparently it was supposed to be in Caps On, Hats Off but never made the cut. i wonder why. @Caro made a BANGIN recreation, but only posted it in Bossfight's Discord server. As far as I'm aware, we wont really be hearing that on streaming services.

"dunes" is also a banger especially with the DROP. man that was insane, like a form of bitpop where its future bass but with chiptune synths.

too bad i dont think well ever get an official, more polished release but holy hell do i wish we did.

also, if you go to "jolul" then you will find a melody at one point which is identical to a melody in Dunderpatrullen's "Arga Leken". who inspired who? or maybe it was in Bossfight's own remix of the song. i cant remember.

His "I fall apart" remix is better than the original.

Anyway yea. Bossfight is my favourite solo artist and i will never not glaze him every time i mention him.

    love u bosse x

    HABRÁ MATANZA IS OUT NOW:

    iu_1200840_18225265.webp

    (Art by me) :p

The first album since CGXX (like 4 months or something) so heres something to cure that itch.

This album is a younger cousin to CRYPTOGRAPHIXX. There are two sides to me as a producer - the side that makes bitpop, and the side which focuses on breakbeat, both genres branching off into their own spheres.

After the success of CGXX, I decided to plunge once more into the breakcore realm and excercise that muscle further, focussing on the straight-up grittier, more aggressive aspects of "breakcore" rather than the melodic and sometimes emotional take on what I STILL call "Neobreak".

Apart from that, it does sort of deviate around the end but I still think it sounds alright.

IF THAT AINT ENOUGH FOR YOU, THIS EP COMES WITH 3 EXCLUSIVE NEWGROUNDS-ONLY TRACKS FOR YOU TO BEAT YOUR BRAIN IN EVEN MORE.

INCLUDING THE LEGENDARY "NOXIOUS" WHICH SOMEHOW GOT FRONTPAGED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MY LEAST FAVOURITE IN THE ALBUM AND THE ONE I EXPECTED TO GET THE LEAST AMOUNT OF ATTENTION.

    LITERALLY, IT WAS BLOATWARE. WHAT.

    THANK YOU NEWGROUNDS

    best served:

    -headphones on

    -volume all the way up

    -no mercy for your ears

    enjoy

    =================================================================

BREAKCORE: BY DISTURBED TEENS, FOR DISTURBED TEENS

    =================================================================

    oi listen yea

I know there is a lot of mild banter being tossed around the place about the whole breakcore ressurgance and what it means for the original fans and everything. You know what I'm talking about. Yea, I mean the whole mess regarding if its breakcore or ambient dnb or ambient jungle or jungle or dnb or math rock or distinguished chemical traction or ambient trance house techbreakneofacism corecorecore or rockcore drumbreakcorestep or WHATEVER

Now, one thing I know is that MOST of what youtube and music boards consider "breakcore" THESE DAYS is actually just ambient jungle or ambient dnb. and, for some of it, that is true.

However, not all the time. Because if you think about it m8, a lot of these songs rely on heavy use of the distortion and break-ing-up-ing of drum breaks including the amen break. A lot more than the original genres.

SO it is a bit of an in-between innit??

But I mean how politically correct can one person be bothered to BE when it comes to such a trivial thing, yknow?

So regarding the above, new breakcore artists + kind of switched up sound = just a little more on the side of "breakcore".

ou know what I bloody call it?

    Neobreak

by god just call it that

Because that one term actually covers everything. Every insurance, every liability.

it distinguishes it from what it used to be AND acts as a medicine pill for all the old wrinkly OG's who get a heart attack at hearing people refer to it as breakcore. AND it gives the kiddies something to claim for themselves.

    just call it "Neobreak" man

Neobreak: A modern version of the genre "breakcore" which incorporates elements of ambient genres and other breakbeat elements, creating an offshoot mix of basically all of them. Often charactarised by heavy reese basslines, emotional chords and a visualizer which portrays heavily distorted and mangled-up anime girl art. Neobreak songs began rising in popularity during the early 2020's. (Yes, the album art is important as well. I want there to be a revival in music where the appreciation lies in more than just the music itself, and branches to other elements which have been drowned out or lost in the digital and mass-production period of today).

    THERE M9 ITS DONE

personally, i love old and new breakcore. old and new, jungle or dnb. im down with all of it!!!

but for those who arent, ill just give my opinion rq.

breakcore isnt what it used to be. i mean, thats what everyones saying, and its TRUE. its changed up completely.

its in the hands of a new generation now. gen z have the baton now and theyre taking it further wherever they want. its just what happens, yknow. especially with the internet where it can be shared and produced and there are production kits and EVERYTHING BASICALLY lots of people can and lots of people do.

and thats just the way things go in aaallllbuuuquuuuurrqquueeeeee.

speaking of what theyre doing with it, the whole point has seemingly changed. it began as an experiment with one very defined cause: make it as aggressive and mortifying to listen to as possible. glitchy, harsh, whatever just make it blow your ears out.

nowadays, that has been taken and given a whole new face. its not like that anymore. you know what it is now? a way of venting. yea.

Neobreak is about the emotions, you dig? its about the sadness and hearbreak and the melancholy. hence why its far more melodic than its predecessors.

i mean look at everything from the art, to the producer names, to the song names, to the full JOURNEY a song can take you on. heck, even the album description which some people leave in their videos, exposing their trauma or whatnot.

so to all the tweed hat-wearing grandpas waving your fists at those darn kids on your digital lawn, let them graffiti all over the stuff and make their installations on it and dye the lawn crazy colours with their emo ideologies and practices.

what you contributed to in the past is still there. its engraved in history. but now its another generations turn to do their stuff. i mean, theyre taking what you created/enjoyed and makign something new out of it. take it as a compliment if anything.

let the kids be kids, man. with their silly little computers.

so it is, quite literally, not what it used to be. sound-wise or purpose-wise.

hence, the title at the top of this post.

just call it Neobreak, i swear to god.
