hi thanks for checking in imSTILLA PIECE OF GAarBAAge!!

A lot has happened since my no-posting-until-2024-holdoff

I have been experimenting more with bass music recently, as well as more bitpop stuff.

I have been sharpening both skills. I still have ways to go, but my stuff sounds a little more polished than before.

I do think sometimes about making an alias. One focussing on bitpop, chiptune and other kinds of EDM, whilst another focuses on DNB, dubstep and more darker, underground kinds of sounds.

Whilst this does sound like a good idea, I don't want things to get too messy.

Besides, I don't want to start categorizing too much. I like freedom and exploration and I'd prefer it if i DIDN'T one day have to spend ages having to think about which alias to post a song under because of how much it incorporates elements of different things.

I don't really see this happening in the future. I like the way it is now. A slowly rising empire of music all under one name.

Thinking about it, it does get very diverse sometimes.

Murray's Park was some weird lo-fi stuff. Pancake Picnic and OMC were different kinds of bitpop. The Wheatfields was orchestral, and now CRYPTOGRAPHIXX will be breakcore.

From here on we can only expect more of this to happen. A wave of DNB and dubstep is on the rise, and I don't see my love for bitpop deminishing anytime soon.

This empire will one day be filled with a complex range of genres. Wubbing basslines, brostep bangers and lurid, nauseating, unforgivable breakcore songs will live amongst the hardcore-happy, emotional, wild wacky world of chiptune and its related genres.

I will not hold back and fear what others percieve, nor will I fear over control over what my "vibe" will be to the public.

I shall make music as I please and follow wherever the waves take me.

And you should too.

I want to try exploring shoegaze sometime too.

I am officially unable to hold back this information anymore.

The wait is over. Almost.

The upcoming album is officially my 5th album, as well as my longest yet.

The art can be found on my profile.

It will be set to release during early January 2024.

Some insight:

The name is CRYPTOGRAPHIXX. It's, if you haven't solved the riddle in the post I made some time ago, an attempt at breakcore (and other surrounding genres).

It all began when I was scouring the internet for resources and came across this old school drum sample mega pack.

Seriously, this thing is enourmous and contains samples of all sorts. I then began playing around with them and, after some time, realised that this could really go somewhere.

Weather it be the aggressive, agonising glitchiness of classic breakcore or the more modern, ambient DNB sound of the new 20's breakcore explosion and revamp, CRYPTOGRAPHIXX covers all angles.

For almost every song I have made, I have composed the drums manually. However this genre, as you might as well know, focuses entirely on composing drums in a completely different way.

With this, I had to get comfortable with sampling.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this album involves split-up, chopped, rerranged frankensteins of drum samples, some roaring out of your speakers at speeds as fast as 200bpm.

Note: there were a handful of songs with pre-made chops or just unedited drums.

Either way, it ranged from me making a song in a single evening to building and improving on one over the course of months.

Making breakcore is somewhat different to making other genres, for the better and worse. I think that it's a super fun, immersive genre that's basically a goldmine for producers to seize by the neck and slice it apart, stitching together whatever aspects they want and painting it their colours. To be honest, I enjoyed it a lot, and would definately consider coming back to it at some point, definately going in with a different take, taking it further. Possibly expanding on the ambient side of things.

One or two songs, as you will find, aren't even breakcore, but I still saw fit for the album.

Every song was made using MPC Beats.

And, of course, because I take pride in my albums, it's fully furnished with an atmospheric intro, song transitions, mixing straight from the bedroom through budget Logitech speakers, and fully sequenced and exported through Audacity (chosen to give it that low quality, bass-and-volume-fluctuation, washed-out sound which was imperative to the sonic qualities of the album).

Trust me.

It's gonna be great.

Okay at least.

Sometimes I'm just existing and then start getting really good ideas for music mashups.

As good as traditional mashups are, thee's something that crosses my mind a lot.

Imagine if, instead of a curated mix of songs that already exist, it was a giant mixture of music by different artists all edited together. Bear with me.

One idea that comes to mind the most when I think this is a collective solo. You know those Pink Floyd 10 minute guitar solos? Imagine if there was one that was just made by a mass of people, a different person's solo every 16 bars or so, with the same music in the bg (the bg music can also change a tiny bit depending on the person if they want, that would add some personality and flare to it!!). And also synth leads instead of guitars.

I really wanna host or be apart of one someday. Comment if you think it would be a good idea?

There would definately be some confusions with mastering as well as with how the project is shared, as well as huge affairs with the DAW people are using.

But just think about it. Backing track runs for about 10 or 11 mins. Solos all the way. A persons slot can be 8 or 16 bars.

There would be a lot we could do in order to put together the full thing despite people using different DAWs. But for now just think about it. It would be nice, no?

I have always been super careful about the stuff I post here and when that happens, I begin NOT posting a lot of stuff that I probably should've.

I think I just need to realise that if I really want this to be my main creative site where all my links lead to, I have to treat it as such by embracing what this site is essentially for - just dump everything. I mean, at this rate I can't really complain that theres so little content despite me drawing and making music literally all the time. It's just me I suppose.

why am i making such a big deal out of this

Anyway I'm still holding off music posting until 2024. But after that I will be posting much more frequently. Remember, new album on its way.

Anyway, apeaking of such things, I do worry about something in particular.

I have a competition-winning comic that's three pages long that I badly wanna share here, but unfortunately I can only find the first two pages. I do have a photo of the first page but the lighting is terrible.

I hope I can find it.

Hopefully you will be seeing many more comics in the future too.

Hi

It's going alright... So far...

I still haven't managed to piece together something that sounds like actual music, BUT...

and this is a big but...

You can use all editions of Guitar Rig as well as other Native Instruments plugins. Something you CAN'T do in MPC Beats, because it only uses .dll files. Native uses applications in themselves and fsr that's only accessible with softwares other than MPC Beats.

Longg story short, if I can get the hang of Tracktion, the bitpop game is gonna have some competition...

IF I get the hang of it which may never happen idk lol.

something absolutely unreal is on its way. it has been cooking up for a long time now, and it still has quite a bit of work to be done. but when it is, it will be the a major triumph. nothing i have made in the past will come close to this. what is it exactly? well im not telling you much. it is a musical composure of sorts, maybe a song, maybe a new album. maybe one of a new genre entirely. other than that... im not giving you any clues.

or maybe i have already given you them...

There's going to be a hold on the music posting until 2024.

I know I haven't been posting much art recently.

That would be because most of work is currently with my school being examined, and I will get it back at the end of October.

Once I get my stuff back, slowly but surely, there will start to be an art explosion where I just post everything.

Hoping I get scouted :))))

I still have some stuff I could potentially post now, but I'll wait until then so it can all come together nicely.

(It's mostly all pen and pencil doodles anyway but I'm passionate about sharing them).

No progress has been made on the game since the last post about it. I don't think it will ever be done.

Game making is difficult business, okay? I'd rather spend the time making music anyway.

but that's just the way things go

man i LOve reese basses. you can literally just use them in almost any situation ever and it will just work.

have some lone high-register chords and dont know what to do to fill the rest of the sound?

slap on a reese bass

have a ton of clashing noise going on but not a strong enough bassline?

stick on one of those bad boys

have no way to start your song?

just add a reese following the main progression

and it will just work every time m8
